Sommer school 2016 - an hour fot Democracy

 

 

The project "An hour for Democracy" is the first educational project for Romania, following the example of Swiss participatory democracy. 


About the Summer school

 210 students from West Romania - Drobeta-Turnu Severin - learn for 18 months (school year 2015/16) in theory and practice how they can participate in their community.

 

After a competition, a public debate between the three Romanian gymnasia the end of May will take place, 12 young people will participate in the summer school in Switzerland. The summer school will take place in Malters 13 to 18 of June.

 

We have our agenda designed that students can get an insight on the three political administrative levels in Switzerland: Municipal, State and Federal Government.

 

The Sommer School takes place between 13th and 18th of June, in Malters (LU). The romanian adolescents will spend the noghts in Hotel Kreuz and will keep their meetings in a space generously offered by Restaurant Brauerei.

 


Program

 

June 13, Monday - Arrival and visit at a museum in Luzern

  

June 14, Tuesday - Dialogue with politicians and local council in Malters:

  • Wagner Konrad, (Green Party) Cantonal Councillor (NW), about environmental issues, at 14:00
  • Yvette Estermann, (SVP) Canton Luzern National Councillor and
  • Daniel Wyss, (FDP)  Council Malters, about Youth, Culture and Politics, at 16:00
  • Barbara Lang, (SVP) Cantonal Councillor und Moritz Bachmann President SVP Malters at 17:00

The meeting is open to all interested parties and will take place in the  Community Hall (semi-basement) of the City Hall Malters.

 

June, Wednesday - Visit of the Federal Palace Bern. 

 

The group will visit the swiss parlament during the Session and will have a dialogue wih Yannick Buttet, (CVP) the National Councillor  Canton Wallis und Co- President of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship between Switzerland and Romania.

 

Afterwards, the group will visit the Romanian Embassy  and will meet with the Ambassador of Romania, Mrs. Anca Opriș.

  

June 16, Thursday - Pilatus Golden Round Trip

 

Experience the environnment: Luzern by boat till Alpnachstad - Pilatus Mountain - Kriens - Luzern / Political Initiatives in Luzern about the preservation of the environnment and of the authentic living areas.

 

June 17,  Friday - Visit at the Luzern cantonal College und University; Dialogue with two members of the Youth Parliament of the city Luzern

 

  • 9:55 attending a historyclass in the Cantonal College Alpenquai (Luzern )
  • 10:55 attending an English class - in the same College
  • 12:30 lunch and dialogue with students at the Luzern University
  • 15:00 dialogue with the two members of the Youth Parliament 
  • 19:00 after a short meeting with Fabio, Specialist in Youth animation & work in Malters, teh young romanians will visit him at the 'Sagitreff' - a meeting of the young habitants of Malters, where they will interact and make cultural exchange with the local peers. 

 

June 18, Saturday - Feedback and departure
